We want to help young writers explore their interests and gain experience in the writing industry. Our internship program offers an abundance of opportunities to learn new skills, build connections, and grow communal spaces for youth writing communities.
Interns have the opportunity to work one-on-one with Desirée Brown, executive director of YEW, and shadow and collaborate with other team members. We love exploring new ways to expand the development of our communities, so we encourage interns to pitch their own project ideas. While contributing to the growth of spaces for young writers, interns also explore their interests and pursue their career goals. Discover how far your passions can take you. Eagerness
A willingness to learn new skills cannot be taught. We believe it is one of the best traits a person can have. If you have a passion for achieving and growing, YEW is the right fit for you!
Time management
It can be tricky juggling school, work, writing, and more. We want to be a bonus in your life, not a burden. It's important to us that team members can manage their time accordingly to maintain deadlines and responsibilities.
Communication
Because the YEW Team operates from several different cities, and even different countries, it is important that members are easily accessible via email and Discord on our YEW Team server.

YEW has connections with many writers and organizations. As an intern, you have opportunities to work directly with our colleagues and collaborate with their projects.
Free bio revisions
Writing your bio can be nerve-wracking. What are you even supposed to put? We can help you craft an eye-catching bio that presents your accomplishments professionally as well as creatively.
Free admission to events
You are invited and encouraged to join any and all of our virtual and in-person events, including our annual Young Eager Writers Conference. Reap the benefits YEW has to offer!
Publication opportunities
Even if you're interested in working for the Young Eager Writers Journal, you can still submit your work! We offer a special Staff Column so team members have the opportunity to publish their work with YEW.
